The Role

EXPERIENCED SKIPPER - KNYSNA




Our client is in need of a Skipper with the highest qualification to be able to drive their larger boats on the Estuary.


RESPONSIBILITIES:




The work entails driving vessels, OVER 25-ton / under 200-ton on scheduled cruises. The Skipper will be responsible for all checklists and daily logs. The Skipper will have the experience of working with tourists and ensuring their safety. The highest certification is required. The position will involve a 6 day/week basis. As the client is in the tourism business an ability to work sometimes long hours is a must.

Skills and Experience

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:




The following are essential:




At least 4 years of relevant experience. Must be in possession of a

Class 6 Port Operations licence

with an endorsement to drive passenger vessels and also

have a night rating

. Must also be in possession of the

new GMDSS Radio Licence(Global Maritime Distress and Safety System)

as well

as up to date STCW certification

. The candidate would have to

live in the Knysna vicinity

or else be prepared to relocate.

The candidate should also be a team player, prepared to take on extra duties when necessary, and to have very good interpersonal skills.
