To ensure RDM Somerset West constantly delivers high level of quality products to its clients.
Ensure that all products, procedures and services comply with required specifications & standard from design to manufacture, testing and delivery.
Responsible for managing Quality Assurance & Control, Product Test Ranges, Raw Materials Laboratory, Non-destructive Testing and Empty Component Laboratory for the site.
Develop and implement best practices, systems, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid RDM in improving Quality of its products and operational performance.
Lead and manage the Somerset West Quality department, providing guidance, support, and resources to ensure their success.
Oversee quality audits, call monitoring, and other performance evaluation processes to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Work closely with other departments and clients to align quality standards and address service gaps.
Act as a point of contact for clients on quality-related matters, ensuring their expectations are met or exceeded.
Ensure conformance with ISO 9001 quality standards, and other industry-specific requirements.
Ensure that RDM Quality KPI's are met, as per set organisational Objectives and Targets
Implement effective quality assurance procedures to identify and address defects or deviations from specifications.
Continuously review and improve existing quality assurance processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Provide QA & QC support to manufacturing to ensure products are manufactured according to specification.
Identify root causes of quality issues and work with relevant teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Perform quality audits, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up on identified non-conformities.
Ensure team members have necessary skills and resources to excel in their roles, providing regular coaching and calibration sessions to maintain consistency in evaluations.
Develop and implement risk mitigation plans to prevent quality-related failures and/or non-conformances.
Generate regular quality assurance reports to track performance and communicate results.
Develop and compile quality assurance plans that meet client expectations, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
Provide laboratory support to ensure all raw materials & empty components are in accordance with specifications.
Oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Lot Acceptance Testing (LAT) of products before release of final product to client.
Complete product documentation and issue Certificate of Conformance (COC) to client.
Compile, manage and achieve budget control and forecasting for department.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent NQF 7 in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Training and demonstrated experience and knowledge of ISO 9001 implementation and auditing.
At least 7-10 years' relevant experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment.
At least 5 years of experience in staff management, performance management and leadership.
Experience within a chemical/manufacturing environment(advantageous)
Experience in explosives manufacturing environment (advantageous)
In-depth knowledge of quality management systems, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
The ability to liaise and communicate with various internal and external stakeholders
Good Planning, integration and resources management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including meeting facilitation and presentation.
Ability to operate and communicate on all levels and within the corporate environment.
Strong leadership and management skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross functional team.
Ability to multi-task and handle several issues simultaneously.
