Eduvos is looking to appoint a Executive Head of Information Technology
Location : National
Purpose of the Role
To manage the IT function across Eduvos, ensuring cost-effective, scalable, secure and reliable technology that enables academic excellence and growth. Leads digitalisation and innovation to enhance student and staff experience, drive operational efficiency, and enable data-driven decision-making, in full compliance with applicable laws and governance codes. As an EXCO member, shapes enterprise strategy and ensures technology investments realise measurable business value
Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Information Systems / Computer Science / Engineering; MBA/MPA advantageous
  • 12+ years IT leadership, preferably working experience in a role such as CIO / CTO
  • 5+ years leading multi-site IT; proven record in transformation, reliability, cybersecurity
  • Previous technical expertise is essential

Management
  • Budgets: Accountable for Opex/Capex aligned to Eduvos strategy; optimise spend; quarterly variance reporting.
  • Planning: Lead IT strategy and operational plans; cascade objectives; ensure baselined business cases / rolling technology & digital roadmap aligned to Eduvos strategy, with clear value cases and risk oversight.
  • Execution monitoring: Oversee IT portfolio delivery; remediate variances; escalate risks to EXCO. Strategic initiatives tracked with measurable benefits
  • Reporting: Deliver regular reporting to EXCO/Board; publish monthly IT scorecard.
  • Workflow/alignment/silos: Engage EXCO, faculty, campuses; build regulatory/partner ties; communicate IT vision clearly. Align IT with functions; establish cross-functional forums.
  • Problem solving/decision quality: Apply structured frameworks; resolve escalations with RCA; coach managers.
  • Resourcing/capacity: Balance in-house/vendor resources; anticipate future needs; resource for demand peaks.
  • Operational efficiency: Improve ITIL processes; standardise platforms; enforce governance.
  • Governance/compliance/risk: Maintain IT risk register; ensure POPIA/cybersecurity compliance; annual audits; audit findings
  • Structure/roles: Maintain cost-effective IT structure; define accountability; review annually.
Leadership
  • Strategy & direction: Deliver Eduvos digital strategy; ensure IT represented at EXCO; translate priorities into roadmaps.
  • Talent acquisition/succession: Build IT leadership pipeline; successors in critical roles; inclusive, values-driven hiring.
  • Individual performance: Set clear objectives; conduct reviews; enforce consequences and recognition.
  • Skill levels: Drive certifications and continuous learning; blended development; report progress.
  • Culture & climate: Model Eduvos values; foster collaboration; build engagement and morale.
