DMGT Manages a diverse, multinational portfolio of companies with total revenues of xc2xa32bn, that provide businesses and consumers with compelling information, analysis, insight, events, news, and entertainment.Job Specification:ManagementLead and manage a team to develop our existing portfolio of related events in Africa.Identify new event ideas or profiles for existing events that provide additional revenue streams.Lead and develop relationships with key market-players across the entire value-chain.Manage the portfolio and event specific P&Lxe2x80x99s, setting budgets, scheduling, and resourcing in tandem with the VP.Submit timely and accurate reporting.Ensure all targets are met and or exceeded through direct or indirect support and intervention.Accurately forecasts and maximises revenues and manages costs across a portfolio of eventsHelp coach and mentor team members to enable them to reach their full potential. Supports team members in achieving developmental goalsA team player, willing to assist where necessary to xe2x80x98get the job donexe2x80x99 and ensure that each event project is delivered successfully.Content and stakeholder relationsUnderstand the key internal market drivers to develop the content of all divisional expos, ensuring each event is appropriately content driven, timely and focused.Work with the content producer to plan, monitor and research development of advisory boards, work with content producer to identify and acquire speakers for the events.Produce coherent brand strategy to maintain and increase relevance to market.Validate ideas and launch new events.SPEXEnsures that buy-side and sell-side audiences are thoroughly profiled and categorised and holds sales accountable for the effective coverage of all categories.Ensures that all events in the portfolio have high quality value propositions, sales plans, sales briefs, and effective launch meetings.Ensures the CRM (Sales Force) is used effectively within the portfolio to drive accurate forecasting and maximise revenue performance.Participate in effective pipeline meetings.Check-in weekly with Sales team to review, validate and test pipelines.Sets targets for sales campaigns and monitors activity and revenue milestones to their achievement.Acquire and manage the agent network, ensuring that the agents are supported and are meeting the targets set for them.MarketingWorking closely with the Marketing team to ensure effective marketing of events.Ensures team has effective data strategy to meet objectives.Providing clear briefs and ensuring campaigns are on schedule and cost effective.From market research, supervise copy for all promotional literature, website, and all print and digital promotional campaigns.Identify new routes to market to develop brand extension.Review all marketing strategies and plans and ensure that these align with the overall event strategies.Ensure that media partnerships are put in place with the right partners, and that all deliverables included in the agreements with these media houses are being met.Ensure that all design and CI elements are consistent, across all marketing mediums, and in line with the approved look and feel of each event.Project managementHost ongoing meetings and check-ins with the various functions to ensure that the projects are running on track.Lead the team onsite, dealing with stakeholders alike to ensure strong and successful delivery of the event.Oversee post show reports, and analysis. (Internal and externalStaffing and reporting:Develop, recruit, train and motivate your teams across dmg events SA. Resolve any team weaknesses or gaps. Particular attention to be spent on finance and reporting/communications.Work with sales team to ensure WSR and CSR are submitted accurately and timeously each week.Support VP to compile a Portfolio review and 3-year plan with accompanying event strategy for review and presentation (by date agreed).Complete on-going talent review of the team. Coordinate staff reviews/appraisals/salary reviews for the project team.Develop and improve the forecasting and budgeting skills. Work closely with Finance to highlight areas that need attention. Focus on the scheduling of incurred costs and forecast revenues to facilitate cost control measures if required.Submit monthly management reports to the VP and attend / participate in management meetings as is required.Ensure budget trackers and commentary are updated and submitted on time and in line with forecasting requirements.Projects / portfolio events:Continue to develop and define the identity of events to target specific markets. Ensure there is a growth plan and strategy in place to future-proof all events and ensure that they have:Buy-side and sell-side audiences that are thoroughly profiled and categorisedWhere applicable manage key commercial accounts and involve yourself in selling - step in especially if the sales plan is not going to planHigh quality value propositions, sales plans, sales briefs, and effective launch meetingsGrow/ develop agent network and geographic representation for all events.Ensure key stakeholders are continuously engaged and that relevant relationships and commercial agreements are concluded and fulfilled.Events specific:Create and present an event development plan for detailing a program to deal with competitive events and create an identity for the showBroaden the event to incorporate a focus on the broader markets and ID new buy/sell profiles.Grow the African buy-side participation at the show.Grow the profiles and geographic sell-side representation on the floor.Continue to build on the success of the events, look to build scale in the existing event, through vertical focus and adjacent industries.Work with team to validate and launch new events.Operations:Oversee the Operations Manager for the Food and Design/Hospitality events and develop with the Operations Manager an operations strategy for the portfolio.Ensure the operations plan is being delivered in a satisfactory and timely manner.Ensure that the Operations Manager takes responsibility of all relevant Health & Safety issues relating to both the floorplan and exhibition.Appoint contractors/suppliers with the Operations Manager as required ensuring the highest quality show features and design within the allocated budget.Financial:Manage and run the Profit and Loss of your portfolio and make sure financial reporting is clear and regular such as forecasting with budget trackers and creating initial budgets early.Keep close control of costs and work to grow and develop revenue opportunities for stand sales and sponsorship.Work with the sales team to ensure your events achieve the following budgeted turnover and ensure profit and obviously, if possible, try to achieve savings and revenue growth to beat budgets (as presented and agreed)Ensure that the sales agents targets are met or exceeded across all shows. Conduct monthly check-in and reviews on progress, derisked their numbers and report as is required.Market development:Grow and develop the sales agentsxe2x80x99 network for your events portfolio with a particular focus on Middle East, Asia, and Europe, where dmg has strength. Also, regional African markets.Stay abreast of trends in your sectors and ensure these translate into the evolution of your events.Manage and develop key relationships such as associations and government stakeholder groups for your events and key customers plus the venues.Work with the marketing teams to develop your visitor levels for the events seeking to increase unique visitor numbers for all your events.Work with the marketing teams to increase the marketing reach for your events whilst attempting to control/maintain the marketing spend through more effective use of the budget and resources and using our scale to purchase more keenly.Work with the marketing teams to develop more contras with regional and international magazines and associations and websites and with operations to develop contraxe2x80x99s where it makes commercial sense.Skills:Strong project management, planning and organizational skills.Extensive client networking and relationship building skills.Excellent interpersonal, communication and management skills.Able to provide clear and effective communication of ideas, processes, and targets.Excellent negotiation and financial management skills.Strong commercial acumen and approaches to projects.Ability to work under pressure.Ability to work with budgets and proven track record in achieving, or exceeding, P&L targets."Please take the time to read the job description, you must meet all the criteria set out above for your application to be considered.
