We are looking for an Economic Sanctions Administrator.
Based is South Africa but will be servicing offices in South Africa, UK and Continental Europe, Our mission is simple: to help offices identify sanctions violations while ensuring operational efficiency. By doing so we can make a vital contribution to the organization's purpose of maintaining regulatory integrity and business continuity.
We support offices across multiple jurisdictions with key sanctions compliance needs. A major aspect of our work is conducting thorough OFAC screening and maintaining comprehensive audit trails for regulatory purposes. We also work directly with operational teams to implement efficient screening processes and resolve sanctions hits. Our work ranges from routine data screening to sanctions investigations and regulatory reporting.
The Economic Sanctions Administrator will be an active team member from day one, reporting to the Head of Operations and working closely with Operations Analysts and compliance colleagues. The role holder will have the opportunity to make an impact on the sanctions compliance strategy and processes within an organization that values regulatory excellence.
The role holder needs to be proactive, detail-oriented and conscientious with a focused mindset. You will be happy working as part of a team, and able to collaborate and communicate with people of different levels of seniority around the business. You will also be enthusiastic about maintaining high standards, ensuring timely turnarounds, and thinking strategically about process improvements and compliance enhancements.
What you will do
Perform Economic Sanctions checks for insurance data and claims using OFAC screening processes within required turnaround times
Report any matches or potential matches to OFAC and ensure proper escalation procedures are followed
Maintain comprehensive documentation including sanctions input files, proof of screening runs, and completion dates in accessible formats
Utilize workflow tools effectively to manage screening processes and maintain operational efficiency
Update and complete Economic Sanctions tracker on a timely basis and submit monthly review forms by month-end deadlines
Coordinate with Operations Analysts to follow up on pending files and ensure timely submission of required documentation
Escalate non-compliance issues to Head of Operations and ensure proper resolution protocols are followed
Resolve all Economic Sanctions hits within 5 days of identification to minimize business and regulatory risks
Monthly Reporting
Implement internal compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to Economic Sanctions regulations across all jurisdictions
Collaborate effectively with compliance team members and other colleagues across the business to maintain seamless operations
Stay current with evolving sanctions regulations across South Africa, UK, and Continental Europe
Contribute to continuous improvement of sanctions screening processes and compliance frameworks
Requirements
Minimum of matric
Requires understanding and knowledge of Economic Sanctions procedures and concepts.
Risk assessment skills.
Has good verbal and written skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
