Job Description


As a leading producer of animal feeds, Epol prides itself on providing customers not only with top quality feeds but also with superior service. This includes an on-farm technical service and nutritional and technical support from in-house technical managers based at Epol's five mills across the country.Epol is looking for a dynamic and experienced Equine Technical Sales Advisor to join their EPOL team. The successful incumbent will be responsible to generate sales for the region in line with the business plan and provide technical advice to customers, to provide support to the National Equine Sales Manager in the smooth running of customer accounts, to understand and interpret equine performance criteria relative to the breed and equine farm objectives, and to identify opportunities and engage with prospective equine customers to actively grow Rainbow Feeds equine market share.Minimum Requirements

  • BSc. Agricultural Qualification in Animal Science / Animal Nutrition or related qualification
  • Equine Diploma (Advantageous)
  • Minimum of 10 years in Equine industry
  • 3-5 years of related sales experience in the feed or agric/livestock stock industry will be an added advantage.
Main Responsibilities:Relationships
  • Builds relationships with customers by providing customers with accurate information regarding orders, deliveries and any unforeseen circumstances that might delay order or delivery of feed to ensure customer service excellence
  • Provide clients with strategic consulting on Animal Feeds Products
  • Work with the respective Feed Mill to ensure alignment of production priorities and capacity investment to meet short, medium and long term sales forecasts.
  • Communicate to mills opportunities relating to quality, performance and customer service
  • Build Trust with customers through developing reliability, credibility and follow-up.
  • Visiting current and potential clients to evaluate needs or promote products
Marketing
  • Work closely with equine customers to co-create and achieve their equine performance strategy and business objectives.
  • Advise and influence equine customers on their farm strategy to maximise delivery on key targets by providing sound nutritional advice and service.
  • Support the customer base together with Technical Sales Advisors through advice, formulation and training.
  • Managing a broad geographic area with a diverse customer base to achieve sales targets, increased market share, and business objectives.
  • Understand customers operations as well as their requirements & trends.
  • Assist with market planning of advertising for equine sales feed.
  • Responsible for marketing and sales of bagged feed product.
Marketing and brand building
  • Identify new market opportunities
  • Collect and communicate equine industry intelligence in a regional context, focused on equine farms and their suppliers and service providers (e.g. feed suppliers, their products and strategies).
  • Identify and communicate needs for new/altered products and services in a rapidly changing equine industry.
  • Participate actively in organized equine structures & events (Equine Shows & Events)
  • Territory Planning & Priority Setting through data analysis, planning, utilization of resources and execution of business plans
  • Technical & Commercial Knowledge - General knowledge of Equine Industry, in-depth product knowledge
  • Gathering, analysing and interpreting marketing and sales data
  • Assist by travelling to other regions to deal specifically with bigger horse clients (creating a greater foot print of the brand in the market)
Sales Support
  • Maintains and utilizes expert product knowledge and highly effective sales skills in order to influence targeted equine
customers. * Executes brand strategies to ensure a consistent company sales and marketing message.
  • Identify and communicate weaknesses and threats to Rainbow Feeds and their service supply to equine farmers.
  • Liaison with co-operative staff re training in Rainbow equine feed products knowledge, customer referrals, enquiries
  • Contribute technical articles/presentations on equine farming topics on a needs basis.
  • Develop into a recognised expert (go to man/person) in related equine feeding management areas
  • Play a leadership role in respect of equine nutrition and feeding (within RCL Feeds and externally)
  • Responsible for relationship with re-sellers and agents
  • Plan and schedule customer appointments on a regular call cycle basis
  • Follow up with logistics and service delivery of orders to ensure brilliant customer service.
  • To assist the National Equine Sales Manager in the position by carrying out duties of client visits, event attendance and customer service at the instruction of the NESM.
  • To maintain the customer complaint log for horse and follow up with the mill and report back to the client on the finding to close the complaint.
  • Develop innovative regional sales strategies to achieve sales targets.
Pricing
  • Provide relevant information to National Equine Manager on market realities and competitor pricing and promotions and influence pricing decisions to ensure our pricing strategy remains relevant and effective.
