Job Description

An exciting opportunity for an Environmental Coordinator. The successful incumbent in this role is responsible for coordinating, facilitating and managing overall environmental management issues within our clients operations, developing, implementing, and maintaining the systems that ensure compliance with environmental legislation and company policies.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Identifying environmental incidents, conducting investigations, and assisting with environmental impact assessments
• Conducting the sampling and interpretation of environmental monitoring data
• Conducting environmental awareness training
• Performing site inspections and audits
• Environmental engagement with relevant stakeholders
• Knowledge in ISO14001, mine closure, rehabilitation and biodiversity management will be advantageous.
• Implementation and verification of the business's environmental management system
• Oversight of contractors and consultants providing environmental services
• Managing a diverse range of operational environmental issues
• Ability to deliver quality work within required deadlines
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
• High level of attention to detail and an ability to interpret data and problem-solve
• Ability to undertake field activities in climatic conditions consistent with South Africa.

• Degree or Diploma in Environmental Management/ Sciences
• 5 yearsxe2x80x99 minimum experience in an operational mining environmental field
• Knowledge of environmental risk assessment and management
• Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., NEMA, NEMWA, NEMAQA, NWA and MPRDA)
• Valid Driverxe2x80x99s License
• Computer literacy is MS Office (Word, Excel, Email)
• Completed relevant short courses, such as Environmental Law, ISO14001 and Auditing will be advantageous.
