Environmental Consultant (contaminated Land/ Geochemistry/ Environmental Geology)

Job Description

:
The candidate should have experience in development of technical documents (reports) for clients throughout various project execution phases (pre-feasibility, feasibility, site assessment, remediation, and decommissioning/closure). The candidate will be required to support project team in the technical delivery of projects, including risk and quality management and reporting.
The candidate will assist senior staff in maintaining and expanding client relationships during project delivery and business development. They should have experience managing and executing projects in South Africa and other locations with minimal supervision.
Core Functions:

  • Undertake contamination/remediation and geochemistry projects
  • Compile reports and assist with proposal compilation
  • Coordinate project schedules
  • Undertake site assessments/field work and
  • Manage sub-contractors undertaking field work.
Competencies and Characteristics:
  • Excellent land contamination/geology/chemistry/industrial waste & mine residue characterisation and management/pollution source identification and control knowledge
  • Excellent core logging and sampling skills (soil and groundwater)
  • Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment
  • Self-starter and committed team player
  • Be alert to market developments and opportunity for new work
  • Excellent reporting, communication and presentation skills; and
  • Analytical and integrative skills across diverse sectors.
Qualifications:
  • Honours or higher in Geology or Environmental Geology or Hydrogeology or Chemistry or Geochemistry or higher / other relevant degree
  • Pri.Sci.Nat Registration will be an advantage
  • 4 to 8 years relevant experience
  • Valid drivers licence and own transport and
  • Willingness to travel within and outside South Africa.
