The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent Engineering Technologists to provide technical advice and support by applying engineering principles and techniques to address engineering challenges through research.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Technology in Engineering (B Tech) or relevant qualification; A minimum of three years post qualification Engineering Technologist experience required; Compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technologist; A valid code B driving licence.

Provide technological advisory services: Support Engineers, Technicians and associates; Promote safety standards in line with statutory and regulatory requirements; Evaluate existing technical manuals, standard drawings and procedures to incorporate new technology; Solve broadly defined technological challenges through application of proven techniques and procedures; Develop, maintain and manage current technologies; Identify and optimize technical solutions by applying engineering principles; Perform administrative and related functions: Compile and submit monthly and quarterly reports; Provide inputs to the operational plan; Develop, implement and maintain databases; Research and development: Keep up with new technologies and procedures; Research/literature studies on technical engineering technology to improve expertise; To liaise with relevant boards/councils on engineering-related matters.

Remuneration
Grade A: R 453 576 - R 487 500 per annum; Grade B: R 513 303 - R 551 493 per annum; Grade C: R 586 665 - R 690 237 per annum (OSD as prescribed).
Note on remuneration: to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
