The Engineering Regional Manager is responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the Engineering portfolio within the specified region. The role ensures effective underwriting and claims processes, strategic business development, broker and client engagement, staff management, and the accurate execution of operational and compliance processes in line with business objectives and regulatory requirements..

Responsibilities:

1. Business Processes

Drive premium growth in line with business targets. Maintain acceptable loss ratios through sound risk management practices. Develop new business opportunities and manage policy renewals and endorsements. Ensure accurate auditing processes are conducted. Manage timely and effective execution of month-end processes. Oversee operational systems to ensure effectiveness and compliance. Ensure accurate and timeous submission of monthly reports. Implement and monitor quality control measures related to commissions, work output, training, complaints, and customer service. Analyse reports to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure the delivery and integration of

Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)

and

POPIA

principles at all levels. Oversee underwriting risk assessments and ensure alignment to company strategy. Manage underwriting and claims processes effectively. Organize and participate in marketing, promotional, and special events. Manage service providers and ensure adherence to service standards. Support the handling of complex queries and complaints.

2. Clients

Understand and address the specific needs of brokers and partners. Monitor customer satisfaction through surveys and implement improvements where needed. Provide regular feedback to colleagues, clients, and service providers. Participate in scheduled meetings and strategic reviews. Support brokers with technical assistance and service excellence. Monitor and manage insurer mandates through internal audits.

4. Profitability

Manage and control regional expenses to support business sustainability. Ensure operations are cost-effective and contribute positively to the financial health of the business.

Minimum Requirements & Skillset:

A

Bachelor's degree

in

Engineering

,

Law

,

Insurance

,

Business

, or a related field (Engineering or Legal qualifications preferred).Minimum 5-7 years' experience in short term insurance, engineering lines.

Strong knowledge of underwriting, claims management, and broker relationships.

Previous leadership experience in a regional or senior capacity.

FAIS compliant with RE5/RE1 certifications (as applicable).

Familiarity with TCF and POPIA regulatory frameworks
