Requirements:

  • 3 - 5 years relevant experience in the citrus or food/bev industry.
  • Semi-skilled electrician.
  • Preferably completed Matric.
  • Must be prepared to work shifts.
  • Must be prepared to work weekends and public holidays
Responsibilities and expectations but not limited to:
  • Carry out preventive control of routine equipment according to the plan assigned by the supervisor. Perform electrical consumption controls on main boards, motors, thermographies on electrical boards, review of electrical measurement instruments at the entrance to the plant.
  • Carry out maintenance duty on a rotating shift, giving urgent solutions to equipment failures in process following safety guidelines. Assign scheduled tasks in turn when there are no failures. Follow guidelines assigned by the maintenance department.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance tasks, according to tasks assigned by the supervisor and requirements of the process areas.
  • Inspection and control of auxiliary plant equipment, e.g. Ammonia compressor motors, air compressor motors, review of electrical protections (Switches, medium voltage cells, motor guards, etc.)
  • They execute the maintenance plan tasks defined by the Maintenance chief effectively and efficiently.
  • Know the SOP, SCP, and controls to be carried out corresponding to the position.
  • Accurate and timely completion of records defined for the position.
  • Raise the RJR, GPM notices, and environmental deviations.
  • Analyse deviations using the 5 whys tool to find root causes.
  • Comply with the 5S scheme of the sector and ensure the standard of the position.
  • Comply with the sector's 5S self-audit schedule, defining actions for each deviation.
  • Maintain communication with the shift supervisor to ensure quality and productivity.
  • Perform relays of shift changes and breaks in the workplace.
  • Conduct shift change meetings, reviewing PI and managing pending actions.

Requirements:
  • A relevant bachelorxe2x80x99s degree (Mechanical and/or Electrical) or Post-Graduate tertiary qualification or a proven track record of at least 10 years in a maintenance management role.
  • A Government Certificate of Competency (Factories).
  • Must have a proven track-record in similar roles and in managing diverse and technical resources.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance:
  • Implement and control a preventative maintenance system.
  • Compile and control the maintenance, people, and capital expenditure budgets.
  • Utilise the Maintenance Management System to effect maximum availability of production plant.
  • Ensure good maintenance of the equipment in line with supplier specifications.
  • Maintenance is done in a professional and compliant manner within the timeline and cost requirements.
  • Ensure the expected and targeted Equipment availability is achieved.
Equipment and Facilities:
  • Provide for an adequate supply of the necessary mechanical and electrical spares, whilst ensuring clear specifications.
  • Review concepts and designs for modifications, additions, and facilities.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the field of mechanical and electrical engineering.
Quality:
  • Conform to requirements of quality control system.
  • APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
  • Understand and respond to the customer needs, requirements and expectations and deliver solutions accordingly.
  • Using tools such as QFD (Quality Function Deployment), review the entire quality planning process to enable the implementation of a quality planning programme.
Lean Manufacturing:
  • Be competent in lean manufacturing principles with a deep understanding of structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
Managing People
  • Ensure the effective utilization of people within the budgeted levels.
  • Understand and be committed to the coaching, mentoring and development of own staff and others.
  • Lead and develop the team.
Communication
  • Liaise with representatives of external organisations, companies and government on matters related to the engineering department.
Safety
  • Appointed as Competent Person in terms of the General Machinery Regulation 2 of the OHS Act and Regulations of 1993.
  • Liaise with management and staff on matters relating to OHASA and other relevant legislation.
  • Ensure safety standards and housekeeping are carried out in accordance with legal and company requirements.
Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure maximum uptime with minimum labour overhead, scrap and overspend.
  • Management of service contractors.
Succession Planning
  • Implement and maintain an ongoing succession plan for the engineering function to ensure the future sustainability of the department.
Auxilliary Activities:
  • Attend various meetings and provide input as required.
  • Conduct investigations in the event of an injury or relevant incident.
  • Carry out all relevant administrative functions.
Budgets and Financial Control:
  • Responsible for the drafting and execution of the annual maintenance budget.
  • Execution and cost control within the agreed expenditure limits.
