Job Description

A market-leading manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join their company in Hammarsdale, KZN. This is a rare opportunity to join a top-tier brand known for its continuous capital investment, innovation, and strong focus on engineering excellence. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge, strong leadership, and a track record of managing plant maintenance and engineering teams in high-output FMCG or processing environments.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day plant maintenance, including preventative and breakdown repairs
Drive uptime, efficiency, and long-term asset health through best-practice maintenance strategies
Supervise foremen, artisans, and contractors; ensure safe and compliant execution of work
Oversee capital projects and major plant upgrades, from planning to implementation
Collaborate with planners and plant engineers to meet timelines and budget objectives
Ensure all new installations comply with safety, health, and quality standards
Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team
Manage succession planning, mentoring, and training initiatives across disciplines
Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountability
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, safety standards, and audit requirements
Enforce SHEQ standards across all engineering activities
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent incidents
Manage engineering budgets, report variances, and implement cost-saving initiatives
Control asset registers, stock levels, and procurement processes
Monitor service levels of external suppliers and contractors
Minimum Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
GCC Factories essential
8+ years' relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory/management role
Strong experience in project execution, plant maintenance, and engineering systems
Deep understanding of mechanical, refrigeration, and electrical operations
Proven leadership skills with a strong focus on people management and compliance
Must be hands-on, detail-oriented, and solutions driven
