Job Description

An established food manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to join their team in Durban, KZN.
The Engineering Manager will lead the engineering function, ensuring that all machinery, equipment, and facilities operate at maximum efficiency and output.
Responsibilities:

• Lead the site maintenance function, providing both reactive and proactive multi-skilled maintenance services.
• Develop and manage the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule.
• Ensure operational effectiveness, minimize downtime, and implement improvement plans.
• Manage direct reports, including Maintenance Supervisors, Millwrights, and Engineering staff.
• Oversee budgetary and cost reporting, including capital expenditure proposals.
• Implement modern manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
• Supervise the introduction of new machinery, plant, and equipment from specification to installation.
• Conduct risk assessments, root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures.
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships with internal departments, suppliers, and contractors.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to the engineering team.

Requirements:

• BTech/Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• GCC certification required.
• Minimum of 5 years' management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Extensive plant-level experience with proven team leadership skills.
• Experience managing P&L responsibilities for maintenance functions.
