Job Description

Job Purpose




Review, evaluate, substantiate, compile and control customer generated, OEM, Regulatory Authority and locally generated modifications, repairs and inspections in order to reduce operating cost. Investigate and develop policies to improve inherent reliability and performance while maintaining ultimate safety and airworthiness through continued technical support and liaison for an effective, improved and optimization of the maintenance & reliability programs in ensuring efficient and economical business processes within SAAT for a full CAMO support.

Principal Accountabilities



To establish Technical Policy with regards to standards, specifications, repairs, modifications, methods, and practices in order to ensure compliance CAMO requirements





Develop and implement technical policies for SAAT, with regards to performance, modifications, repairs, operational procedures.



Identify and analyse problems to develop possible solutions in determining cost implications by generating and implementing instructions as required.



Manage all engineering systems, structures and interiors support services in terms of safety, appearance, comfort, fuel efficiency and cost for all customer aircraft, its systems, components and engines.



Examine and evaluate OEM data, maintenance programs & regulatory documents, to determine cost, regulatory and requirements for implementation.



Generate and establish instructions with detailed steps necessary to comply with revised or new procedures, and monitoring progress/compliance.



Approve/Authorize and recommend as applicable, modifications, repairs and deviations from standards per engineering order to ensure compliance with CAMO standards.



Approve the use of FAA PMA parts as applicable and establish policy regarding purchasing, identifying and storing these parts in order to save costs and maintain airworthiness standards



Identify and investigate, motivate, and initiate warranty claims.



Provide daily and after hours CAMO support to meet operational requirements.



Manage/Perform/Co-ordinate projects as determined by management.



Conduct Aircraft and Systems operational performance surveys and generate reliability and failure reports for customers and OEM's for detailed reliability and failure modes.



Monitor performance levels of aircraft, engines, related equipment and initiate instructions as required.



Monitor and ensure compliance with contracts.



Investigate concessions, deviations and/or limit accidences and initiate solutions within accepted safety and Airworthiness parameters.



Liaise with OEM's and relevant stakeholders to generate specifications & instructions to co-ordinate and initiate the additional maintenance programs for new/additional aircraft/components/equipment.



Monitor, compile and present technical status reports on the fleet as required.



Ensure compliance to all aircraft systems requirements with respect to equipment, modifications, inspections and reporting.


Creates a communicative channel between maintenance,

customers

and support areas on maintenance requirements





Act as a point of contact & source of expertise for others in the organization and/or externally, in providing detailed professional advice.



Initiate, arrange, chair reliability meetings and attend operational meetings to co-ordinate activities between departments and for information sessions.



Develop and introduce new or improved systems/methods to improve the section's operations and efficiency. This includes review of industry developments and adoption of best practices.



Manage the resolutions of in-service problems in order to maintain/improve aircraft, engines and systems reliability



Liaise and communicate with NAA, aircraft, engine and component manufacturers regarding reliability matters.


Conduct reliability studies and

analyse

maintenance programs or schedules to:





Improve dispatch reliability and enhance cost efficiency.



Motivate program or task escalations/de-escalations in comparison to industry trends.



Motivate and recommend changes, pertaining to the maintenance programs/schedules, to the applicable Regulatory Authority for approval.



Analyse re-occurring defect trends, make recommendations and provide reports to management, on the maintenance philosophy.



Support all CAMO activities as required

Qualifications & Experience




Grade 12 with Maths & Science - esential



Be a certified aviation technician in mechanical or avionic trade with 5 years' certification experience in aircraft maintenance environment and an N6 or higher diploma in engineering.



Have 8 years' experience in Aircraft Maintenance Aviation



Qualification in project management would be Advantageous

Knowledge and Skills
