Company Description
-Venetia Mine is an asset in the Anglo-American portfolio with a strategic and commercial imperative to achieve the business objectives. It has a recent history of community and labour unrest and performing well below budget requirements and international benchmarks. Open pit operations are due to continue for the next four years when the mine will commence transitioning to an underground operation. This has necessitated a need for a review of the organisational design of the mine relative to the work and efficiencies required to achieve these objectives.
-The role is responsible for creating a high-performance culture and leading the production team to effectively deliver on the set production and respective business continuity targets through an integrated value chain. The role holds the legal accountability with a 2.13.3.1 appointment in terms of the MHSA, responsible for the overall safe operation and maintenance of equipment including availability of HME, light vehicle, and pit dewatering services at Venetia Mine.
Key Result Areas
Role incumbent will be appointed in terms of MHSA Reg 2.13.3.1 and has a strong focus on legal compliance
Ensure adherence to the company's Safety, Health and Environmental management programmes and that objectives are implemented according to MHSA legislation and the Strategic Management Plan
Direct and identify the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to mining standards, organisational standards and legislative requirements
Allocate and manage the utilisation of financial resources and value add to optimise engineering availability and life cycle management of equipment.
Management and co-ordination of team and resources to execute maintenance and operational plans for Caterpillar HME Fleet, light vehicle & support equipment fleet, and pit dewatering infrastructure
Repair and Maintenance (R&M) contract management for Venetia Mine Caterpillar Fleet
Management of the open pit dewatering infra-structure for safe operation and maintenance.
Management of the mine surface fleet collision prevention system implementation and maintenance
Implement maintenance strategies and tactics to deliver availability, reliability and cost performance to mine business plan
Qualifications
-Mnimum Requirements: (Education & Experience)
Ndip (N6) or B-Tech or Bachelors' Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
Government Certificate of Competency (Mines)
This role will carry a regulation 2.13.3.1 appointment
5 years' experience in heavy mobile equipment maintenance management in the mining environment
Additional Information

Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act
Knowledge of Engineering Standards according to SANS
Proven ability in heavy mobile equipment maintenance management
Proven ability in managing OEM managed MARC contracts for heavy mobile equipment
Proven ability in operational and business risk management
Proven ability in engineering risk identification and hazard mitigation
Strategic management and planning vision of 2 - 5 years
Planning, analysis, coordinating and prioritizing tasks.
Relationship building and good communication skills.
Report writing and presentation skills
Interpersonal skills.
