We are seeking a highly experienced and registered
Professional Electrical Engineer
to join our dynamic Buildings Engineering team, based in Johannesburg. This is a hybrid position and focuses on designing, implementing, and managing electrical systems for building projects, including power distribution, lighting, standby power, communication systems, and energy efficient electrical solutions for commercial, residential, and institutional developments.

What You Will Do:
Execute technical electrical engineering work on complex projects.
Develop, modify, and review models, plans, details, and drawings of electrical engineering systems and components in line with established standards and modelling techniques.
Perform electrical designs for various systems, including medium-voltage distribution, microgrids, photovoltaic and battery systems, building power systems, lighting design, and low-voltage installations.
Assist with technical reviews and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Conduct electrical calculations, including SKM analysis, arc flash studies, and photometric calculations (AGI or ElumTools experience advantageous).
Interpret, define, organise, execute, and coordinate engineering assignments effectively.
Provide technical guidance and support across multiple projects of considerable scope and complexity.
Apply or develop advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to ensure quality deliverables meet project specifications.
Offer technical expertise and support during project definition and planning phases.
Communicate new scientific methods, developments, and best practices through appropriate channels within the firm.
Develop and document standard practices, and mentor team members in skill development areas.
Act as a technical expert and representative of the firm at various functions, as required.
Conduct internal training sessions for staff.
Participate in firm-wide quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
BSc/BEng in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience in electrical engineering for building projects.
Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA.
Proven experience in building power systems, lighting design, and medium?voltage distribution.
Proficiency in using Autodesk Revit for 3D modelling and preparation of construction documentation.
Understanding of sustainable building system design, including exposure to LEED or GBCSA frameworks.
Experience coordinating multi?disciplinary design documentation and performing QA/QC reviews.
Strong ability to read and interpret complex technical documentation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective engagement with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
Ability to respond professionally and appropriately to enquiries from clients and regulatory authorities.
