The Role

Job Purpose:

The purpose of the Electrician role is to install, maintain, repair, and inspect electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures to ensure safe and reliable operation in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. The electrician is responsible for diagnosing electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting operational efficiency by minimizing downtime and ensuring a safe working environment.

Skills and Experience

Duties & Responsibilities:

Work on conveyor belts

Keep electrical installations up to date with relevant compliance

Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems

Read blueprints and technical diagrams

Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and generators

Electrical fault finding on single and three-phase systems

Keep HSE records up to date (earth leakage testing, portable appliance register)

Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools

Follow SANS10142 wiring code and local building regulations on the National Electrical Code (under the guidance of the Facilities Manager)

Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment

Job- Related Requirements:

Grade 12

Qualified Electrician

HSE Qualification would be an advantage

A forklift license would be an advantage

Required Knowledge:

Qualified electrician in commercial/industrial environment

Extensive compliance and regulations experience

Knowledge of generators and switchgear

Must be willing and able to work standby and overtime
