Technician

• Ensure that compliance to the contractual requirements are met.
• Direct all work in your environment to meet contractual requirements for your environment.
• Perform C and D level Maintenance on all Communication equipment as per corrective and preventative maintenance.
• Perform fault finding on all equipment installed and repair or replace the failed items.
• Identify problematic equipment and report it to the System Technician,
• Ensure that all repaired items confirm to tge OEM prescribed performance specifications.
• Ensure that you are familiar with all tge technical particulars of the equipment you are responsible to maintain and / or repair.
• Provide support during upgrade and repairs on site.
• Report any accidents or incident immediately to the System Technician.
• Ensuring that all Communication equipment is available and calibrated (aligned) at all times.
• Removing any defective sub-system and replacing it with a serviceable unit.
• Repairing any defective Line Replacement Unit (LRU).
• Checking system performance after a repair.
• Ensure that a SAN member is always present while performing various tasks on-board vessels.
• Act as a mentor for trainees allocated to undergo practical training.
• Carry out all Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP's) on the completion of repaired equipment.
• Keep a fault identification log of all repairs in order to be used for future reference.
• Understudy the Communication System Technicin in order that you will be able to carry out his duties in case of emergencies.

Rigging / Fall Arrest

• Fit and Capable to work at heights.

Minimum Educational Qualifications required by the position: (Professional / Technical / Academic):

NQF Level 6 / S4 / T3 Diploma or equivalent.

Recognised Electrical Trade Test

Minimum Experience required by the position:

Experience (2 to 5 years) in telecommunications maintenance and related equipment for the competency required to exercise the key functions of the job

Power Systems 3 to 5 Years (Essential)

Computer 3 Years Microsoft or similar (Essential)

Switching Centre Electrical Reticulation.

Electrical Cable Systems 3 to 5 Years (Desirable)

OHS 3 to 5 Years Exposure (Essential)

QA / QC 3 to 5 Years Exposure (Essential)
