The Worcester East Water Users' Association (WE WUA), located near Worcester, is seeking a practically minded Technician to support the reliability and efficiency of its water management systems. This is a hands-on role in a small, close-knit operational team where versatility, initiative, and accountability are key. The successful candidate will work directly with the Operational Manager and take responsibility for routine maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and the supervision of general workers across WE WUA's mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Verify water meter readings and report discrepancies
Ensure metering equipment is functioning properly
Assist in controlling water distribution in accordance with listed hectares
Conduct inspections on mechanical and electrical equipment
Identify faults or potential failures in infrastructure
Report inspection results and suggest repair priorities
Perform mechanical and basic electrical maintenance
Execute general repairs on buildings and infrastructure
Supervise and support contractors during maintenance projects
Allocate tasks to General Workers and monitor their work performance
Provide on-the-job training and guidance
Report incidents of misconduct or poor performance
REQUIREMENTS:
N5 Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience in a technical role
Experience with irrigation systems will be advantageous
Registration with ECSA will be advantageous
Valid Code B driver's licence
Fully proficient in Afrikaans and English
Physically fit and willing to provide after-hours operational support as and when required
