Job Description

Create and/or update a technical repository/library for all information pertaining to plant electrical equipment and installations. Develop and/or update and implement a process to ensure that all electrical installations comply to regulations and accepted industry standards Provide electrical engineering support to the organization.POSITION INFO:

• Create and/or update a technical repository/library for all information pertaining to plant electrical equipment and installations.

• Create a repository/library framework that is aligned with NCPxe2x80x99s standards and systems (document control) to store and update all electrical engineering information.
• Ensure all relevant manuals and technical specifications are in place and up to date.
• Ensure all drawings are in place and up to date.
• Ensure that the company asset register and maintenance system are up to date.

• Develop and/or update and implement a process to ensure that all Electrical installations comply to accepted industry standards.

• Review and/or set up and implement a system that outlines and guides the Organization to comply with relevant regulations and industry standards (Regulations from OHS Act, ISO standards, SANS standards, etc.).
• Ensure that this system is updated on a regular basis.

• Provide electrical engineering support to the organization.

• Provide technical input to ensure that the operation is legally compliant and adheres to certification requirements.
• Evaluate and advise on proposed changes to electrical equipment and installations.
• Ensure that electricals installations are optimized (e.g., Power Factor correction, trip settings)
• Monitor and report on energy consumption (electricity as well as other sources)
• Assist with HAZOPxe2x80x99s and design reviews.
• Engage with OEMs to assist with asset management and care.
• Assist with developing and proposing asset care plans (maintenance and overhauls)
• Support the operations department in investigating major failures/breakdowns.
• Perform regular plant audits to ensure set standards, processes and procedures are adhered to.

Knowledge / skills/ Competencies

• Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, No. 85 of 1993.
• Extensive knowledge of hazardous chemical manufacturing and handling codes, preferably in a Chlor Alkali plant.
• Knowledgeable on different types of equipment related to chemical manufacturing plants.
• Skilled in hazard identification, risk assessment and root cause analysis
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical data books.
• Experience in working with operational excellence and world class manufacturing principles.
• Experience in managing and coordinating projects, and continuous improvement activities.
• Experience in using SharePoint and Corrective Action Systems (i.e., Digilex)
• Knowledge on Operations Technology (i.e., SCADA, PLC, SAP IM and MES)
• Experienced in relationship building and cross collaboration at a senior level.
• Excellent technical knowledge in the field of electrical engineering
• Extensive knowledge of the OHS Act.
• In-depth knowledge of Maintenance Systems, and requirements to comply with MHI processes.
• Sound knowledge on Process Safety Management xe2x80x93 MOC, HAZOP and HIRAs
• Sound understanding of project management,

management, supplier management, change principles and continuous improvement. * Computer literacy in SAP and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Experience

• Minimum of 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience as a Pr Eng (Elec Eng)) in a chemical or refinery plant environment, preferably chlor-alkali manufacturing
• Experience in world class systems and operational excellence implementation
• Familiar with financial budgeting and capex management.

Qualifications:

• Matric
• BSc in Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineer in Electrical Engineering (Pr. Eng (Elec Eng))
