To assess, plan, and design reliable and efficient electrical systems to support the operations of a 10,000-capacity beef feedlot and high-throughput abattoir, including power supply, lighting, energy efficiency, and compliance with relevant standards for agro-processing facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess existing power infrastructure in the project area and determine electrical supply requirements for the feedlot and abattoir.
Design electrical systems for:
Animal housing (lighting, ventilation).
Abattoir operations (processing equipment, refrigeration, packaging).
Waste management systems (pumps, compressors, biogas units if applicable).
Office/admin blocks, security systems, and general lighting.
Ensure energy-efficient and cost-effective designs, including provision for renewable energy options (e.g., solar PV, backup generators).
Specify power distribution networks, cabling, control panels, and load management.
Ensure electrical system designs comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, SANS codes, and industry best practices.
Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and environmental practitioners to integrate electrical systems into overall infrastructure plans.
Support cost estimations, procurement planning, and construction phasing from an electrical perspective.
Contribute to the feasibility report with detailed technical sections related to electrical design, risk mitigation, and operational readiness.
