Job Description

As an Electrical Building Services Engineer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of electrical systems within buildings, from initial concept design to commissioning and handover. This includes:

• Design & Documentation:

• Developing detailed electrical engineering solutions for various building types, including power distribution, lighting, security, fire detection, data, and communication systems.
• Preparing comprehensive designs, drawings (using CAD and BIM software like AutoCAD, Revit), specifications, and technical reports.
• Conducting load calculations, fault level analyses, and protection studies.
• Assessing and advising on the sustainability and energy efficiency of electrical systems.
• Project Management & Coordination:

• Collaborating closely with clients, architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure integrated designs.
• Managing project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
• Overseeing the installation and commissioning of electrical systems on-site, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety regulations.
• Conducting site inspections and audits, providing technical support and guidance to site teams.
• Technical Expertise & Compliance:

• Ensuring all designs and installations comply with relevant local and international electrical standards, building codes, and health and safety regulations.
• Staying abreast of industry best practices, new technologies, and sustainable design principles.
• Troubleshooting electrical issues and providing effective solutions during all project stages.
• Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

• Interacting directly with clients to understand their needs, present design proposals, and maintain strong professional relationships.
• Negotiating contracts and preparing cost estimates.

What We Are Looking For:

• Qualifications:

• BEng or BSc (Eng) in Electrical Engineering from an ECSA accredited institution.
• Professional Registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng or Pr. Tech Eng) is highly advantageous.
• Experience:

• Minimum of 5-8 years of post-graduate experience in Electrical Building Services design within a consulting engineering environment.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering a variety of building services projects.
• Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Relux or similar lighting design software).
• Strong understanding of electrical power distribution, lighting design, standby power systems (generators, UPS), fire alarm systems, security systems, and data/communication infrastructure.
• Knowledge of green building principles and energy-efficient design.
