The EHS Officer role exists in order to ensure compliance contribute to the establishment of a Zero Harm culture and mindset by delivering on the agreed strategic priorities of the company.
Key Performance Areas:
Develop And Implement Plant Safety and Health Policies and Procedures
Verify compliance by Isanti staff to the Safety and Health legislation and other mandatory requirements, monitoring that various departments execute the required EHS checks.
Check equipment cleaning is carried out correctly.
Develop, implement, and improve health and safety plans for the plant.
Develop and implement safe working procedures and policies.
Develop and implement SHE, Security and Risk Policies, Standard Operating, Procedures (SOP's)/ Work Instructions (WI's) on the plant.
Manage and maintain the Emergency Plan, Fire and Evacuation Drills for the plant.
Develop and implement a Risk Mitigation Plan for the plant/site, that is aligned to the Safety and Health requirements.
Coordinate and conduct Safety and Health accident/ incident investigations on the plant and report to the Department of Labour where required.
Develop and implement a Safety Risk Mitigation Plan for the plant/site.
Participate in new projects and developments by providing EHS and security advice.
Adhere to and perform administrative tasks according to the processes and procedures appropriate to the department/section.
Carry out safety surveys assessing noise, hazardous chemicals etc. released by the plant.
Reporting and Recordkeeping
Create reports and Provide information as appropriate for reports specific to area of responsibility.
Complete, consolidate and submit standard documents and reports for review.
File, archive and retrieve documents in hard and soft copy filing system.
Maintain and update records and systems as required.
SHEQ and Risk Management
Ensure that Health and Safety measures e.g., wearing safety and protective equipment are adhered to.
Implementation of all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations.
Internal and external Stakeholder relations
Communicate with all relevant departments on issues of the area of speciality.
Communicate with internal and/or external stakeholders, where required, to achieve work objectives and to maintain relationships.
Qualification & Experience:
NQF 6 National Diploma in Safety Management
At least 3 years' experience in FMCG, Manufacturing, Mining, or Heavy Industry
Solid knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and regulations, along with ability to apply it in practice.
Knowledge ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001
