Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Media Studies, English, or a related field.
Exceptional command of English grammar, syntax, and punctuation.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite1 and familiarity with CMS platforms like WordPress.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A passion for journalism and storytelling.
Experience with image editing software is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Researching, fact-checking, proofreading and editing:
+ Prepare copy for editorial review: Thoroughly proofread and edit articles, features, and other content for grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and stylistic inconsistencies.
+ Verify facts and sources.
+ Conduct research.
+ Schedule stories for publication.
+ Prepare Maverick Life weekly newsletters: Prepare articles, send for checks and subbing, upload and schedule.
Administrative support:
+ Manage and organise editorial schedules, commissioning and deadlines.
+ Assist with content management system (CMS) uploads.
+ Coordinate communication between writers, editors, and other contributors.
+ Assist with image sourcing.
+ Assist with various editorial tasks as needed.
Communication:
+ Communicate effectively with team members, writers, and external contributors.
+ Respond to inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner.
