What does an Editor do at Hogarth?



We are seeking a meticulous, creative, and highly skilled Editor to join our team. The Editor will be responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, clarity, and consistency of all written/video/audio content produced by our organization. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong command of language and grammar, and the ability to shape content to resonate with our target audience while adhering to brand guidelines and editorial standards. The ideal candidate will be passionate about storytelling and dedicated to delivering polished, impactful content across various platforms.

This role reports to the Content Producer



You will work closely with the wider team in studio.




Requirements





Content Review & Refinement:




Edit and proofread a wide range of content, including but not limited to: blog posts, articles, website copy, marketing materials, social media posts, whitepapers, case studies, video scripts, podcast transcripts, internal communications Check for grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, punctuation errors, factual inaccuracies, and stylistic inconsistencies. Improve clarity, conciseness, flow, and overall readability of content. Ensure content adheres to established style guides (e.g., AP, Chicago, in-house style) and brand voice. Verify proper citation and attribution where necessary.



Content Strategy & Development:




Collaborate with content creators, writers, designers, and subject matter experts to brainstorm ideas and develop compelling content concepts. Provide constructive feedback and guidance to the content team to help them improve their craft and align with editorial vision. Assist in developing and maintaining editorial calendars and content pipelines.



Quality Assurance & Compliance:




Ensure all content meets legal, ethical, and compliance standards. Implement and enforce editorial guidelines and best practices. Conduct final quality checks before publication or distribution.



Project Management:




Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met. Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding project status and any potential issues.



Qualifications:




Education:

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience:

3-5 years of professional editing experience, preferably in digital media, publishing, marketing.

Portfolio/Samples:

A strong portfolio or samples of edited work demonstrating a keen eye for detail and an ability to improve content.



Technical Skills:




Expert proficiency in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace. Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)



Soft Skills:




Exceptional attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to provide constructive feedback in a clear and respectful manner. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Highly collaborative and able to work effectively with diverse teams. Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
