Job Description

The Malaria Research Group (MRG) aims to support the malaria elimination agenda as set out in the National Department of Health's Malaria Elimination Strategy. The research goals of the MRG are aligned with the national elimination strategy. The Malaria Research Group is looking for an experienced driver who is familiar with and living in the uMkhanyakude district in northern KwaZulu-Natal and has experience in research fieldwork. This person will be responsible for the transportation of the research team, supplies and samples. The Driver will work and be based in uMkhanyakude district, northern KwaZulu Natal.
Responsibilities will include:

Transporting of research staff.
Transporting of equipment and supplies for the study.
Supporting general project administrative tasks.
Adhering to standard operating procedures for relevant policies within the SAMRC
Record keeping and report writing

Duration of the contract:
1 year
Remuneration
R 245 170.00 per annum (cost-to-company)
Requirements:

A grade 12 certificate/NQF4 qualification or similar qualification or higher
3 years of driving experience
Good communication skills (bilingual, English and isiZulu)
Code 8 driver's license
Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
Familiar with driving in uMkhanyakude, northern KwaZulu-Natal

Advantageous:

Prior experience in research work in communities
Has experience transporting passengers and goods for an extended period (e.g. transporting staff/stakeholders)
Excellent communication skills and able to work in a team
Administration and organization skills (record keeping and reporting)
