The Draughtsman is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and schematics for trailer components and assemblies. This role involves collaborating with engineering and production teams to ensure that designs are accurate, functional, and meet industry standards. The Draughtsman will also update documentation, support testing and validation processes, and facilitate communication across departments to ensure the smooth development and manufacturing of trailer products.

Duties & Responsibilities

Perform design work according to sound engineering principles. Improve designs to ensure non-failure. Preparing Trailer and Trailer Components drawing sets. Performing drawing revisions and corrections where needed. Calculate and establish principal dimensions critical to other components, strength, or form. Institute changes in methods, design, or equipment as appropriate in the Engineering Disciplines. Applying basic graphic design principles where needed. Prepare drawing sets for manufacture. Prepare and present technical reports. Accurate documentation and administration of drawings. Ensure that the company adheres to all Engineering Standards with respect to Design. Liaise with clients on technical matters. Assist in checking jobs where necessary. Assist Product Support Engineer. Conduct vehicle and component tests and validations. Perform basic failure investigations and problem detection.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Matric (essential) Completed tertiary qualification in Draughting (essential) BTech or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Solid technical understanding of draughting and proficient within the computer aided design. Technically minded and able to apply engineering principles and theories. Knowledge of design techniques and best practices for creating precise and functional technical drawings. Mathematical skills Working knowledge of MS Office Knowledge of software for drafting and design.
