Job Description

Lexdan Select is assisting a Company in the Water treatment industry with their search for a Draughtsman, based in Cape Town.
Functions:

• Produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings, including:

• General arrangement (GA) drawings
• Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
• Mechanical and fabrication drawings
• Structural and civil interfaces (as required)
• Assist with modelling of water treatment plant layouts, pipework routing, skid-mounted systems, and pressure vessels.
• Support project engineers and process designers in converting conceptual designs into detailed fabrication/installation drawings.
• Review and update existing drawings and maintain drawing registers.
• Ensure drawings comply with company, client, and industry standards (BS, ISO).
• Provide technical support during manufacturing and installation phases.
• Maintain accurate and organized CAD libraries and document control systems.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional drafting experience, ideally within water treatment, process engineering, or related industries.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor/Plant 3D/Revit (exposure to multiple Autodesk packages is advantageous).
• Familiar with mechanical, structural, and piping layouts in industrial applications.
• Knowledge of water treatment equipment (pumps, filters, membranes, pressure vessels, pipework systems) is preferred but not essential.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Understanding of fabrication practices and site installation requirements.
