Job Summary

Our client based in Cape Town, is seeking to employ a Draughtsman who will be reporting to the Mechanical Engineeer, required for a renowned engineering concern.

The client offers solutions and services to the Marine Sector.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS FOR THIS ROLE:

• Possess the ability to not only interpret the ideas of the design but also to translate that into a workable set of documentation for the manufacturer.
• Must be knowledgeable about the materials and tools needed to complete the project in order to accurately develop the plans.
• Must be technically inclined.
• Will be required to assist in the drawing of the office by creating 3D assemblies along with their respective components and fully detailed manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Ideally you would also be proficient with different measuring tools (Vernier, Micrometer, etc.) to reverse engineer sample parts.
• Provide design/drawing support to the Engineer.
• 3D modelling and creation of working drawings according to company's standard.
• Creation of 3D models & drawings from 'off the sample' parts.
• Preparation of manufacturing project files.
• Creation of hydraulic schematic drawings.
• Sourcing of components from suppliers.
• Technical assistance to the workshop staff during the production process.

POST REQUIRMENTS:

• Mechanical Draughting Certificate or equivalent.
• Min one year experience within the manufacturing environment using 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor will be an advantage)
• Good understanding of mechanical systems and their function.
• Able to work independently or interactively as a member of a team.
• Self-motivated with creative and innovative mind.
• Proficient with different measuring tools (Vernier, Micrometer, etc.)
• Good communication skills (verbal, written & interpersonal).
• Valid Code B Driver's Licence.
