SUMMARY:
A client of ours within the investment sector is looking for an experienced and dedicated Domestic and Commercial Underwriter to join their Johannesburg team.
POSITION INFO:
Location:
Johannesburg-North
Requirements:

• 360 FAIS credits and more
• RE 5 completed qualification
• Minimum 6 years of experience in similar role
• Flexi and cardinal systems experience is a huge advantage
• Great communication skills

Responsibilities:
Domestic Aspect:

• Assess the risk associated with personal insurance policies like home, contents, and motor insurance for individuals
• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulations while managing their respective portfolios
• Processing new policy applications, renewing existing policies, and making necessary adjustments based on changes in risk factors
• Collaborating with the claims department to analyze claims history and identify potential fraudulent activity
• Building relationships with insurance brokers to ensure accurate information and smooth policy placement
• Adhering to all relevant insurance regulations and guidelines

Commercial Aspect:

• Reviewing a company's financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to assess their financial stability
• Evaluating a company's business practices, industry risks, and operational procedures to understand potential exposures
• Determining the level of risk associated with insuring a particular business, considering factors like industry trends, location, and legal liabilities
• Designing insurance policies tailored to specific business needs, including property damage, liability, and workers' compensation
• Managing complex insurance placements for large corporations with high risk profiles
• Adhering to all relevant insurance regulations and guidelines
• Collaborating with reinsurance brokers to secure coverage for high-risk exposures
