Job Description

Our client, a national food manufacturer in the baking industry requires a Distribution Supervisor based in Johannesburg. The purpose of the role is to coordinate activities together with the expeditor of the distribution team to ensure that products are delivered accurately on time and in efficient and effective manner. This role involves implementing and maintaining overall fleet, safety protocols, ensuring customer service levels are set and achieved and optimizing distribution processes. A key aspect of the role is analysing data with the purpose of continuous improvement.
Key Functions

• Oversee the activities of a large team of distribution staff to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to company policies.
• Score Card distribution activities and communicate efficiencies to Depot Manager.
• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers by coordinating transportation and logistics
• Ensure route optimization
• Ensure fleet is in excellent working condition
• Build relationship with vendors for fleet management
• Enforce safety protocols and procedures to comply with regulations and protect employees: Check daily fleet inspection sheet and address issues reported
• Ensure team comply to regulations and resolve any issues that arise with Depot Manager
• Provide training and development opportunities for new and existing employees to enhance productivity
• Assess employee performance, manage growth opportunity, and implement strategies for improvement
• Work closely with other departments to optimize distribution processes
• Compile daily, weekly as well as monthly reporting to be communicated to the Business, Call Centre as well as Debtors

Key Requirements

• Grade 12 certificate, BCOM and BSc degree preferred or studying towards a degree
• Min 1 - 2 years FMCG Distribution
• Relevant Quality, Food Safety and Safety Systems knowledge preferred
• Knowledge of cold chain supply preferred
• Fluent in English
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
