VACANCY: Dispatch Assistant (Late shift)

A fast paced, FSA accredited, successful family run, wholesale bakery serving the needs of the retail, food service and hospitality industry as well as regional and national distributors in South Africa. We specialise in a range of artisan breads, rolls and buns, brioche, croissants and Danish pastries, doughnuts as well as a range of small confectionery products. Our unique range of thaw and serve, parbaked and convenience products aim to make operations simple for the end user whilst still delivering a high quality, consistent product. As a Dispatch Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth end-of-day operations.

Driver Debriefing & POD Management

Debrief returning drivers Verify and collect PODs, invoices, and delivery documents Capture POD data and escalate issues

Crate Control

Receive, count, and reconcile returning crates Store crates in designated areas

Equipment & Vehicle Handling

Operate a forklift/Hyster (valid license required) Conduct pre-use checks and report defects Move vehicles in the yard (Code 10) Assist with diesel fill-ups

Late Truck Support

Load and offload late-arriving trucks Ensure accurate stock handling

General Support

Assist with stock movement and returns Support Distribution Administration tasks Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards Ensure effective shift handovers

Minimum Requirements

Valid

Code 10 Driver's License

(unendorsed) Valid

Forklift/Hyster License

2-3 years' warehouse/dispatch experience Experience with PODs and crate control (advantageous) Willingness to work late shifts, Saturdays, and overtime Physically fit for manual work
