Our client who is assisting, a leading higher education institution, is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Procurement to lead their Supply Chain Management operations. Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance, the successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with National Treasury regulations while driving innovation and efficiency in procurement processes.

POSITION DETAILS

Reports To: Executive Finance Director
Experience: 6 - 8 Years Experience in a Similar role
Location: Onsite, Gauteng
Role Type: 6 month contract
Start Date: 5 January 2026
Qualifications / Experience

• Relevant Degree/Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Finance or related field
• 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain management
• Experience in higher education environment highly advantageous
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Role Requirements
Strategic Leadership & Supply Chain Management

• Drive end-to-end supply chain management processes aligned to National Treasury regulations
• Adjudicate and award contracts in conjunction with the CFO and relevant committees
• Manage sourcing, purchasing decisions, and logistics for all goods and services
• Forecast demand, perform resource planning, and identify supply risks
• Enforce procurement delegated authorities and maintain the highest standards of integrity

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and audit requirements
• Develop and review supply chain management policies and procedures
• Manage tender processes to reduce financial, safety, environmental and regulatory risks
• Implement quality assurance systems meeting internal and external standards
• Proactively manage risk identification and mitigation strategies

People & Stakeholder Management

• Lead, develop and mentor the procurement team
• Conduct user education and training on supply chain policies and procedures
• Build strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
• Provide strategic and operational reports to Management, Council and committees
• Promote innovation and continuous improvement in procurement operations

Financial & Resource Management

• Contribute to operating and capital expenditure budget planning
• Oversee asset management and ensure accurate financial processes
• Manage employment relations, performance management and staff development
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies
