Role Overview
An international industrial operations group is conducting a priority search for an experienced Director of Operations to lead and scale its Namibian operations.
This is a hands-on, senior leadership role responsible for plant operations, biomass sourcing, logistics, and multi-site operational teams. The role offers a rare opportunity to scale operations from early commercial production to hundreds of sites across Southern Africa, within a fast-growing, mission-driven industrial platform.
Candidates currently based in Namibia are encouraged to apply, as well as senior operations professionals from South Africa or other regions who are open to relocating to Namibia for the right opportunity. Work visa support is available where required.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end plant operations, including uptime, throughput, and operating discipline
Oversee maintenance strategies and commissioning of new industrial plants
Manage biomass sourcing, third-party harvesting, and logistics operations
Build, lead, and mentor multi-site operational teams, including site managers
Enable autonomous, high-performance operations as the footprint scales to 100+ sites
Track, analyse, and optimise KPIs across production, yield, logistics, and costs
Ensure accurate operational data capture into monitoring and reporting systems
Uphold best-in-class safety, compliance, and quality standards
Collaborate closely with finance, community partners, and executive leadership
Drive operational excellence in a startup / high-growth emerging market environment
Ideal Candidate Profile
10+ years' experience in industrial operations within sectors such as: - agriculture processing, mining, metals, energy, biomass, or process industries
Proven track record managing multi-site industrial operations with strong uptime and delivery results
Experience with continuous process plants (e.g. pyrolysis, kilns, furnaces, thermal or chemical processes) - highly advantageous
Demonstrated career progression (e.g. Plant Supervisor; Plant Manager; Regional / Operations Leadership)
Strong logistics, supply chain, budget, and KPI management capability
Experience commissioning new plants or facilities
Comfortable operating in startup, scale-up, or frontier market environments
High ethical standards, strong leadership presence, and excellent communication skills
Location & Mobility
Based in or near Otjiwarongo, Namibia, with regular on-site operational presence required
