Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to coordinate and facilitate the development, implementation, and successful onboarding of digital solutions. Each day, you will support the adoption of digital platform and solutions into the customer business environment along with their subsequent operations and maintenance. You will also showcase your expertise by participating in the ideation workstreams from identifying and validating the needs to defining the development.

DS/Digital Systems/Digital Solutions Engineer

in Johannesburg, South Africa.

You will be mainly accountable for:

Performing a variety of software engineering tasks in one or more areas of the assigned areas such as software development, software quality engineering, software testing, DevOps, cybersecurity, software release, support and maintenance, and/or release management, with limited supervision. Testing and troubleshooting the final system setup and ensuring its successful rollout through training and retraining the customers and providing subsequent ongoing support and services. Ensuring that all required resources are in place to implement software on-time and on-budget. Contributing to the software product roadmap and portfolio through suggesting new features, functionality, and variants.

Qualifications for the role

You have 6 years of experience in Protection Applications like Feeder, Motor, Generator, Busbar, Differential and Transformer protection schemes, (working as a Commissioning Engineer with IEC61850, IEC 60870-5, MODBUS. You are qualified in Electrical Engineering (National Diploma - minimum*) and/or BTECH/BSc/BEng.
You are highly skilled in Electrical Engineering and Digital Communication Systems, you enjoy working with Protection and Control Systems, and Power Distributions Systems. Ability to demonstrate your experience in Substation Automation and knowledge of LV, MV and HV systems (must have)*.
You have a in depth understanding and knowledge of the principles of electrical network calculations, You are highly skilled at commissioning/site operations and carrying out testing and commissioning of protection control and substation automation systems. You must be willing to travel regular to customer sites both locally and internationally for extended periods of time, You must be willing to work extended hours due to business and operational requirements, Possess an enhanced knowledge of SCADA Systems more specifically ABB Region and ABB Zenon Products. Highly adept in Industrial Communication platforms You are at ease communicating in English, You are fully authorized to work in the Republic of South Africa and hold the appropriate work permit/VISA etc.
