Job Title: Digital Marketing Specialist - Paid Media
Employment Type: Permanent
Work Location: Cape Town

JOB SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a subject matter expert on Digital Paid Media platforms (including Paid Search, GDN, paid social media, Native and potentially programmatic platforms) and how these can be used to leverage growth in online reputation and business growth.
  • Understand the integrated Digital strategy and individual digital plans (SEO, Content, etc.) and devise an integrated implementation plan for digital paid media across digital assets and platforms.
  • Understand and interpret the results of Social Reporting, Google Reporting and Revenue Reporting, in order to draw meaningful conclusions from data reports and translate them into a recommendation for future campaigns.
  • Identify target audiences and analyse their characteristics, behaviour, and media habits.
  • Develops paid multi-channel initiatives and builds upon current client strategies within the digital arena to meet/exceed objectives.
  • Make recommendations to various stakeholders of new initiatives and opportunities.
  • Communicate and raise awareness with relevant stakeholders with regards the Digital Paid Media framework and how it can be utilized.
  • Builds strong, trusting relationships with clients and agency partners, and collaborate on conceptualisation, planning and implementation for paid campaigns.
  • Monitors paid media channels to ensure that the delivery and objectives are rolled out as per plan.
  • Track and quality assure proofs on paid media interactions, creative products and delivery to ensure cost effective and impactful solutions.
  • Monitor consistent and accurate messaging across channels.
  • Analyse and report on the effectiveness of paid media campaigns, facilitating any amendments where required.
  • Write communications briefs, ensuring that creative and media are effectively integrated.
  • Facilitate project meetings for the implementation and delivery of campaign and / or event plans through specific initiatives to meet the objectives of the events and / or campaigns.
  • Manage key stake-holder expectations, escalating risks before they become problems.
  • Report on completed projects, costings, and progress against deadlines.
  • Perform data analysis of paid activity on a monthly basis.
  • Regular reviews of performance within Google analytics.
  • Monitor and evaluate campaign performance in order to optimise future campaigns.
  • Work with marketing teams to drive content creation for paid media channels.
Key Stakeholders:
  • Internal: Marketing Team, Creative Team.
  • External: Paid partners (e.g., Google, Facebook, sports radar etc.), agencies and freelancers for production.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification:
  • 3 Year Bachelors Degree / NQF Level 7 in marketing, communication, or journalism
  • GAIQ certification (Google Analytics Certification) is an advantage.
Experience:
  • 5 years successful experience in paid digital media planning and campaign management.
  • Experience demonstrating creativity from an ideas perspective, an eye for design and an understanding of the power of storytelling to better understand, engage with and motivate consumers.
Work conditions and special requirements
  • Travel to all units required on a regular basis.
  • May be required to work outside of normal working hours, in line with operational requirements (including weekends, public holidays).
COMPETENCIES

Technical proficiency:
  • Knowledge of the business products and the sports betting context (advantageous)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Google Analytics and Google AdWords and Facebook
  • Experience with other paid platforms e.g., Programmatic, Native, and other paid social e.g., Twitter, Reddit, TikTok etc (advantageous)
  • Digital Marketing
  • Project management
  • Media planning & buying (advantageous)
  • Social Media Platforms (including how to use these to effectively support paid media)
  • Copywriting and editing
  • Social; Google & Revenue Reporting skills
  • Business & Financial Acumen
  • Knowledge of GTM, pixel set ups etc (advantageous)
Know-how:
  • Knowledge and expertise in paid media digital marketing practices and technology concepts and principles.
  • Short term planning (within 12 months) involves conducting the planning of activities to meet and optimise new business targets and growth.
  • Organise, plan, and prioritise tasks for self to ensure that work gets done profitably and efficiently.
  • Represent the company to internal and external stakeholders, interacting with stakeholders - influencing, motivating, and encouraging specific behaviour.
Problem-solving:
  • Apply business acumen and sound common sense to the management of paid media marketing within regulated standards.
  • Applies judgement and adapts solutions through analytical, interpretative, evaluative and innovative thinking.
  • Monitor changes in the digital environment and is quick to act upon potential opportunities, risks, and challenges.
  • Consider all the facts, options, and possible objectives prior to making decisions.
  • Analyse and diagnose channel performance issues in order to maximise or leverage the strengths of the team in a competitive environment.
  • Deal with diverse problems in own area, using judgment and discretion to resolve them.
Accountability:
  • Provide information and make recommendations regarding products, channels and services that will meet operational requirements.
  • Solve a wide range of queries dealing with these sensitively and within operational/procedural limitations.
  • Solutions should be profitable and effective in delivery business results.
  • There are guidelines/ policies and procedures in place to be followed, but the incumbent needs constantly consider ways of improving productivity and profitability.
