Job Description


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders like authors, readers, librarians, and academic societies.
  • Conduct market research when launching a new journal or acquiring an existing one, employing methodologies such as quantitative analysis, expert panels, and focus groups.
  • Develop marketing plans for each journal, identifying USPs, target audiences, and special marketing opportunities.
  • Coordinate publicity initiatives, including press releases and social media campaigns.
  • Content Writing: Write copy for calls for papers, blogs, and news specific to the academic community.
  • Stakeholder communication: Liaise with editorial boards, society executives, and governance bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with POPIA and other relevant data protection regulations.
  • KPI Monitoring: Track and report on marketing KPIs regularly.
  • Budget Management: Oversee marketing budget and ensure ROI.
  • Employee Training: Conduct or coordinate marketing training sessions.
  • Email Campaign Analytics: Analyse the effectiveness of email campaigns.
  • CRM Management: Utilise CRM software for effective communication.
  • Market Segmentation: Manage segmented lists for targeted marketing.
  • Customer Feedback: Establish channels for customer feedback for continual improvement.
  • Online Banner Sales: Manage and optimise online banner advertising on journal websites to maximise revenue.
  • Conceptualise and manage online and offline workshops, webinars, and conferences.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Diploma or Bachelorxc3xa2xc2x80xc2x99s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills (Fluent in English, demonstrated by an IELTS score of 7.0 or above, or a TOEFL score of 100 or above or C1 or C2 level based on CEFR).
  • Digital Marketing Tools Experience (Canva, Mailchimp, ClickUp, Hootsuite etc.)
  • Proficiency in MS Office with exceptional skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage projects and prioritise work.
  • Professional experience in academic publishing is an asset.
  • Digital Marketing Analytical skills
  • Digital Marketing and Design skills.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and WordPress.
  • Confident communicator with a strong ethical compass.
  • Comfortable working in a paperless environment.
  • Excellent administrative skills.
