To lead TradeOn's digital and IT strategy, ensuring robust infrastructure, secure systems, and innovative technology solutions that support Restaurant Operations and the Restaurant Support Centre (RSC). This role will drive full integration of all business systems (POS, accounting, payroll, data mining, banking, collaboration tools) into a unified cloud platform, optimise analytics and reporting, and enable automation of information flows. The position ensures alignment with franchisor technology standards and compliance requirements while improving response times, minimizing downtime, and enhancing IT service delivery across all 54 restaurants and the RSC. The role also provides strong leadership to the IT team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement to deliver these initiatives effectively.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Digital Strategy & Transformation
Developing and executing a cloud-first digital roadmap aligned with business goals and franchisor standards.
Leading the migration of existing systems (GAAP POS, Sage Evolution, Firecell, SharePoint, Power BI) into a secure, scalable cloud environment.
Champion innovation in restaurant technology, analytics, and automation to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
Acting as a change leader, ensuring IT team alignment and capability to execute integration and cloud migration projects.
Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and recommend tools/apps to enhance analytics and reporting capabilities.
Systems Integration & Data Architecture
Designing and implementing interoperability between all business systems to enable seamless data flow and centralized reporting.
Introducing automation frameworks to reduce manual processes and ensure real-time data availability.
Establishing a unified data architecture that supports advanced analytics and predictive insights.
Business Intelligence and Analytics Optimisation
Overseeing the Reporting & Insights function to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable insights.
Expanding current measurement capabilities by identifying additional KPIs and performance metrics.
Implementing advanced analytics tools and dashboards (e.g., Power BI, SQL, AI-driven solutions) to support strategic decisions.
Driving automation of reporting processes and ensuring data governance for accuracy and security.
IT Infrastructure & Security
Overseeing all IT infrastructure across 54 restaurants and the RSC, ensuring high uptime and rapid response to incidents.
Implementing robust cybersecurity protocols, POPIA compliance, and disaster recovery plans.
Maintaining IT governance policies and ensuring compliance with ISO 27001 and franchisor standards.
Team Leadership and Development
Leading and mentoring the IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Building digital capabilities across the business, including restaurant teams and support functions.
Managing training, performance, and succession planning for IT staff.
Project & Vendor Management
Leading cross-functional IT projects including cloud migration, system upgrades, and integrations.
Managing IT budgets, vendor contracts, and service level agreements to ensure cost-effective solutions.
User Experience & Support
Ensuring responsive and effective IT support for all users, improving service desk performance and minimizing downtime.
Promoting user-friendly systems and provide training to enhance adoption and reduce support dependency.
Ideal Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or related field.
5-10 years' experience in IT leadership, experience in IT leadership, with proven success in cloud migration, systems integration, and analytics optimization.
Proficient in Microsoft 365, Power BI, SQL, Cloud platforms and POS systems (GAAP).
Excellent understanding of cybersecurity, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and South Africa compliance standards (POPIA, ISO 27001).
Willingness to be available on-call to respond to and manage critical system issues as needed
