An established Electrical & Mechanical Engineering company based in Gordon's Bay is seeking a skilled

Diesel Generator Technician / Electrician

to join our growing team.

Job Purpose

To maintain, diagnose, repair, and install industrial diesel generators while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient power delivery across multiple client sites.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

Trade Qualification (Diesel Mechanic - N3 to N6 / Red Seal)
Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial generator maintenance and repair
Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills on generators of all sizes and brands
Strong knowledge of Deep Sea and ATS Controllers
Strong electrical diagnostic and troubleshooting ability
Physically fit (standing, bending, lifting, long working hours)
Safety-orientated mindset
Excellent time management and workload planning skills

Good verbal and written communication skills
Valid Driver's License
Clear Criminal Record (willing to obtain police clearance)
Willingness to travel across the Western Cape and beyond when required

Duties & Responsibilities

Perform routine generator maintenance (oil changes, filters, inspections) Install new generators and replace faulty components Monitor generator performance via gauges and meters Maintain and repair electrical systems (wiring, fuses, panels) Operate generators during power outages and emergency situations Respond to breakdowns and urgent call-outs Operate and monitor computerized generator control systems Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults Monitor fuel usage and arrange fuel orders Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures
