Job Description

Key Purpose:

The incumbent will maintain tankers in an exceptional condition in order to ensure maximum availability.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Perform preventative maintenance services at regular intervals

Overhaul mechanical components

Fault finding and troubleshooting on vehicles, components, systems and equipment

Recording of defects, repairs done and materials used

Tyre inspections

Tool/equipment inspections

Test and repair all electrical components, scully system, off-load system & pumps actuators

Service 5th wheels, cimax coupling and manhole covers

Ensure that correct decals are in place and correct barret couplings are in place for product

Service pneumatic system

Prepare vehicles for safe loading pass and COF certificates

Complete job cards for all work done and return to Supervisor

Job involves after hours and week-end work

Assist in ad-hoc tasks as may be required from time to time

Qualifications / Knowledge:

Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Red Seal Certificate)

Working at Heights Certificate

Advanced technical knowledge of diesel engines

Extensive knowledge of all mechanical and automotive equipment

Knowledge of air, fuel and hydraulic systems

Basic auto electrical knowledge

Advance fault finding

License EC; preferably with DGP

Sound knowledge of equipment

Minimum 3 years relevant experience

Ability to carry out roadside repairs
