Pitsana Mills is seeking a qualified and dependable Diesel Mechanic to support our operations team, with a strong emphasis on hands-on work, safety compliance, preventative maintenance, and ensuring the consistent reliability of our fleet.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on diesel trucks (mainly Mercedes-Benz, Volvo & Hino models), Trailers, Forklifts, Tractors, Bobcats, Fleet cars etc.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and perform necessary repairs efficiently.
Inspect and maintain vehicle systems, including brakes, steering, suspension, engines, transmissions, and hydraulics.
Perform roadworthy checks and ensure all vehicles comply with safety standards.
Respond to breakdowns and conduct emergency repairs, including call-outs if and when required.
Keep accurate maintenance records and ensure proper documentation of all work performed.
Assist in managing workshop tools, equipment, and parts inventory.
Report defects and potential issues to management timeously.
Proven experience in fault diagnosis and repair of diesel engines and systems.
Valid driver's license (Code 14).
Physically fit and able to work in a high-pressure environment.
Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and safety standards.
Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and attend call-outs when necessary.
Reliable, sober habits, and a positive attitude toward teamwork and accountability.

Skills and Attributes
Technical diagnostics skills:
Ability to accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults on diesel engines and systems, especially on Mercedes-Benz, Volvo & Hino trucks.
Diesel engine and transmission repairs:
Skilled in overhauling, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, gearboxes, and differentials.
Preventative maintenance:
Proficient in conducting routine servicing and safety inspections to prevent breakdowns and extend vehicle lifespan.
Brake, suspension, and clutch systems knowledge:
In-depth understanding of air brakes, suspension systems, and clutch operations.
Electrical and electronic systems troubleshooting
: Ability to test and repair vehicle electrical systems using diagnostic tools.
Workshop tool handling:
Skilled in using mechanical tools, diagnostic devices, and workshop equipment correctly and safely.
Problem-solving skills:
Able to troubleshoot under pressure, especially during breakdowns or emergencies.
Time management & efficiency:
Ability to plan and prioritise repair work, meet deadlines, and minimise vehicle downtime.
Attention to detail
: Accurate record-keeping, fault detection, and thorough vehicle inspections.
Communication and teamwork
: Effective interaction with management, supervisors, drivers, and team members to ensure smooth operations and reporting of issues.
Safety compliance:
Strong understanding of occupational health and safety practices within a mechanical workshop and during mobile repairs.
