Your mission, to , secure, and scale modern infrastructure across AWS, enabling faster, safer, and smarter deployments.
You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, actuaries, and data scientists to optimise infrastructure performance, support continuous integration/deployment pipelines, and drive a cloud-native strategy that is as reliable as it is resilient.
Role Summary
This role is responsible for designing, securing, automating, and maintaining Dis-Chem Life's cloud infrastructure to enable rapid, reliable, and scalable software delivery. The DevOps Cloud Engineer will lead the implementation of cloud-native architectures across AWS, manage CI/CD pipelines, and drive infrastructure-as-code practices that underpin the resilience and efficiency of our technology operations.
To succeed, you must be highly proficient in cloud engineering, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and infrastructure automation (Terraform or equivalent).
You will take full ownership of environment stability, cost management, deployment reliability, and production monitoring ensuring our systems perform at enterprise scale while enabling agility and innovation.
This role demands a technically strong, self-driven engineer with deep DevOps experience and the ability to collaborate across engineering, data, and product teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Infrastructure & Automation

  • Design and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud environments using AWS.
  • Automate provisioning, monitoring, and management of infrastructure via Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform).
  • Lead the setup, configuration, and optimisation of Kubernetes clusters and container orchestration tools.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines, ensuring rapid, stable software delivery with rollback and audit capabilities.
  • Manage cost efficiency and performance of cloud services through budgeting, tagging, and alerting systems.
Reliability Engineering & DevOps
  • Drive uptime and performance improvements through proactive monitoring, logging, and incident response processes.
  • Implement disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plans.
  • Build and enforce DevOps practices and SRE methodologies to ensure system reliability and scalability.
  • Partner with engineering teams to embed observability and telemetry across services.
Collaboration & Innovation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand infrastructure requirements and application deployment workflows.
  • Champion DevSecOps principles and embed security best practices into every layer of the stack.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies that enhance infrastructure scalability and security.
  • Mentor junior engineers and evangelise best practices in automation, cloud management, and deployment.
Technical Skills:
Essential:
  • Deep expertise in AWS cloud architecture and services.
  • Strong experience with containerisation and orchestration using Kubernetes (EKS or self-managed).
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • CI/CD pipeline tooling (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
  • Infrastructure automation using Bash, Python, or similar.
  • Logging, monitoring, and alerting with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or CloudWatch.
  • Disaster recovery setup and implementation.
  • Cost optimisation and cloud usage monitoring.
Beneficial:
  • Experience with blue-green deployments and advanced release strategies.
  • Exposure to serverless technologies and microservices architecture.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or similar IT governance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., CIS benchmarks, OWASP, IAM best practices).

  • 6+ years' experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or site reliability engineering.
  • Proven record of designing and maintaining high-scale, production-grade systems in AWS.
  • Experience building infrastructure from scratch in greenfield environments.
  • Track record of working in agile, fast-paced, high-stakes settings.
  • Prior experience in regulated or financial services environments is advantageous.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are highly desirable.
