Job Description


To design, build, and maintain resilient cloud infrastructure supporting critical business systems, with a specific focus on payment processes and merchant solutions. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for managing deployment pipelines, automating infrastructure, and ensuring the availability, scalability, and security of systems hosted in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
Key Responsibilities

  • Build, manage, and maintain enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure on AWS.
  • Oversee DevOps pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and related tools.
  • Collaborate with development and product teams to ensure seamless integration between infrastructure and applications.
  • Ensure security compliance across infrastructure components by implementing security best practices and controls.
  • Monitor infrastructure health and performance, proactively identifying areas for improvement.
  • Lead initiatives to optimise CI/CD processes and streamline deployment cycles.
  • Support infrastructure needs for highly available and scalable payment systems.
  • Contribute to cloud migration, container orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code projects.
  • Manage secrets and service discovery using tools like Vault and Consul.
Minimum Requirements
Experience
  • Minimum 4 years in a DevOps or Cloud Infrastructure role
  • Strong background in:
  • AWS and/or other cloud platforms (Google Cloud, Azure)
  • Kubernetes and container orchestration
  • CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g. Terraform, HashiCorp stack)
  • Managing secure and compliant cloud environments
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Programming/Scripting: PowerShell, Go, Python, Java
  • Deployment automation and front-end systems support
  • Designing and deploying high-availability systems
Education
  • Minimum: Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
  • Preferred: Relevant qualification in Software Development, Cloud Engineering, or related field
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong grasp of cloud infrastructure architecture and DevOps principles
  • Advanced knowledge of:
  • Payment systems or merchant solution infrastructure (advantageous)
  • Kubernetes management and cloud networking
  • Cloud security and compliance practices
  • Monitoring, logging, and incident response
  • Familiarity with the HashiCorp toolset: Nomad, Vault, Consul, and Terraform
