Development Manager (Registered Architect) (CPT) Engineering/Technical ~ Product/Project management
Cape Town - Western Cape - South Africa
ENVIRONMENT:
A strong solutions-driven Development Manager who understands building efficiencies and has a detailed knowledge of Cape Town planning regulations is wanted to join the team of a fast-growing Property Management & Development company. Their developments are focused on Residential and Student Accommodation. You will lead the design and development of residential and mixed-use projects, provide oversight of town planning applications and conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and quality. Applicants must possess a Masters and/or Bachelors Degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology with 8 years experience post-registration experience in Architecture and must be registered with SACAP. You will also require proven experience in residential design and town planning regulations, have expertise in building products, construction details, and relevant rules and quality standards & proficiency with Revit software. A portfolio demonstrating high quality residential and urban planning work will be expected.
DUTIES:

• Lead the design and development of residential and mixed-use projects.
• Oversee town planning applications and liaise with local authorities.
• Manage Project teams and coordinate with consultants, contractors and clients.
• Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainability standards.
• Prepare and present design proposals, feasibility studies, and technical documentation.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and quality.
• Contribute to professional development within the team.
• Participate in strategic planning and business development initiatives.
• Ensure high quality, innovative and functional design.
• Produce detailed blueprints, make necessary corrections and compile project specifications.
• Ensure projects are completed within budget and timelines.
• Provide technical guidance to the Architectural team.
• Collaborate with Architects, Engineers, and clients to ensure project success.
• Prepare detailed architectural drawings and specifications.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in architectural technology.
• Oversee quality control and project documentation.
• Prepare and give input to project feasibilities.

REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications

• Masters and/or a Bachelors Degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology.

Experience/Skills -

• 8 Years experience post-registration experience in Architecture.
• Registered with SACAP.
• Proven experience in residential design and town planning regulations.
• Proficiency in architectural software (Revit software is essential).
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of South African building regulations and planning policies.
• Excellent design, communication and project management skills.
• Technical Knowledge - expertise in building products, construction details, and relevant rules and quality standards.
• Portfolio demonstrating high quality residential and urban planning work.
• Familiarity with Cape Towns local planning frameworks and development processes.
• Own transportation.
