GIBBxe2x80x99s Roads and Highways Services Delivery Unit provides a comprehensive range of services that include traditional consulting services (design, procurement and contract supervision), Public Private Partnership (PPP) solutions and asset management services. This includes high-capacity freeways, interchanges and bridges, airport pavements, rural roads (including low volume and haul roads) and municipal infrastructure. The team is supported by transportation and traffic engineers, geotechnical and material engineers, and other specialists.

This Sector is looking for a talented professional to complement their team, in the form of a Design Engineer (Roads).

Core Purpose

The purpose of the job is to lead and manage a team of Engineers and Technicians in the design, procurement & contract administration of roads projects.

Key Performance Areas

• Undertake duties of the Employers Agent/Engineer in accordance with GCC2015 / FIDIC.
• Compile & review project technical deliverables.
• Manage and supervise technicians and junior engineers.
• Compiling tender documents
• Overseeing work done with GCC 2015/FIDIC & COLTO/COTO.
• Oversee the Design and Implementation of infrastructure projects (Roads design related).
• Utilisation on revenue earning work.
• Ensure service excellence.
• Successfully apply Risk and Quality Management Principals and system.
• Chair and minute technical meetings.

• Applicable bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Registration with ECSA as a PR Eng.

• Minimum of 10 years post PR Eng registration experience.
• Experience in producing road design drawings in AutoCAD.
• Experience in the use of Road design software (Civil Design or Civil 3D).
• Familiar with road design standards and procedures.

• Develop solutions to problem/challenges in the most optimal and cost-effective manner.
• Generate creative solutions to work situations; trying different and novel ways to deal with organizational problems & opportunities.
• Be aware of the various technologies available and to provide appropriate & best practice solutions as well as represent GIBB in the industry.
• A team player who can lead and supervise a team of Engineers and Technicians to produce technical deliverables of the right quality to meet the scope in the time and budget allocated.
• Good communication skills and professionally undertake presentations to colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
• Understand and knowledge of applying Risk and Quality Management Principals and systems successfully.
• Understand and apply effective financial controlling principals.
• Honest, responsible & self-motivated.
