Deputy Sheriff
Job Description
The Office of the Sheriff for Newcastle invites applications from suitably qualified, disciplined, and self-motivated individuals to fill the position of Deputy Sheriff.
Key Responsibilities
Execute court orders, summonses, warrants, and other legal documents as directed by the Sheriff.
Serve legal processes in accordance with the Sheriffs Act, 1986 (Act 90 of 1986) and relevant court rules.
Maintain accurate records and submit timely returns of service.
Handle legal documents and monies entrusted with integrity and confidentiality.
Provide professional service to litigants, attorneys, and members of the public.
Uphold the values and reputation of the Sheriff's Office through disciplined, ethical conduct.
Minimum Requirements
South African Citizen.
Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification (post-matric legal or law enforcement training advantageous).
Valid South African driver's licence.
Ownership of a reliable personal motor vehicle is mandatory.
The vehicle must be roadworthy, licensed, and suitable for travel across the area of jurisdiction. Ability to communicate effectively in English and at least one other South African language. Good interpersonal skills, strong time management, and attention to detail. No criminal record or pending disciplinary matters. Must be willing to work extended hours and travel within the designated area when required.Attributes and Competencies
