Job Description

Introduction

A Department within the public sector in the North West region seeks to employ a Deputy Director of ICT Security. The Deputy Director will be responsible for managing and overseeing IT security operations, developing and implementing security policies, and leading cybersecurity projects. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring security systems, identifying vulnerabilities, and ensuring the integrity and security of the organization's IT infrastructure.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Developing and implementing ICT security policies and procedures:

This includes creating and enforcing policies related to data protection, access control, incident response, and other security-related matters.

Managing and monitoring ICT security infrastructure:

This involves overseeing the security of network infrastructure, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security technologies.

Conducting security audits and assessments:

Regularly assessing the security posture of the organization's ICT systems and identifying vulnerabilities.

Responding to security incidents:

Leading the organization's response to security breaches and other security incidents.

Staying up-to-date on the latest security threats and trends:

This involves keeping abreast of new security technologies, techniques, and threats.

Training and educating staff on security matters:

Providing training and awareness programs to employees on security best practices.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field:

Extensive experience in ICT security Typically, a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in ICT security, with experience in areas such as network security, systems security, or security architecture. Strong knowledge of security technologies Excellent communication and leadership skills, the ability to effectively communicate security risks to stakeholders, and to lead and motivate security teams. Certification in ICT security Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or other relevant certifications can be beneficial.
