Job Description

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent person to manage the development and implementation of Green Economy programmes and projects.
Minimum Requirements
An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Economics or Environmental Science; A minimum of 3 years middle management experience; 3 years project management experience.

Facilitate and develop green economy strategies and plans; Implement and coordinate green economy programmes and projects; Facilitate and co-ordinate stakeholder engagements; People Management; Financial Management.

Knowledge of the following: Applicable policies, legislation, guidelines, standards, procedures and best practices; Management principles; Sustainability; Statistical information and applied in economics; Public service procedures; Research; People Management processes; Capacity Building; Project management; Public Financial Management Act and its Regulations; Stakeholder management. Remuneration
All-inclusive salary package of R 896 436 per annum (Salary Level 11)
Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
Notes
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to complete a practical assessment and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
