Deputy Director (Eastern Cape: Small-Scale Fisheries Operations Support) East London Contract Position R67 630.00 per month
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a Bachelorxe2x80x99s Degree in Natural Science / Environmental Management / Economics / Business Management, and Social Sciences (Development Studies) or equivalent NQF Level as recognised by SAQA
Postgraduate qualification in Economics will be an added advantage
Minimum of 5 yearxe2x80x99s experience in working with Small Scale Fisheries Cooperatives or related, of which 3 years must be at an Assistant Director or Junior Management Level
Must have knowledge of the Constitution, Public Service Act, Public Administration Management Act, Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, the Public Service Act, and the National Development Plan
Duties will include:
Provide direction in the development of working with Small-Scale Fisheries Cooperatives into sustainable enterprises that can provide employment and contribute to economic growth
Formulate, implement and review small-scall fisheries policies and legislation.
Coordinate stakeholder participation in finalizing polices and legislation formulation
Manage the small-scale fisheries sector A
Administer rights allocations to small-scale fishing cooperatives
Provide inputs to permit, licence and exemption conditions
Monitor the performance of small-scale fishing cooperatives and the sector
Develop necessary networks and partnerships to encourage co-management and development of the sector
Coordinate supplementary livelihoods and support program
Ensure adequate communication with stakeholders
Manage special projects: Initiate, coordinate the implementation of the project and monitor performance of such projects
The successful candidate will be responsible for the above activities and any other activities that the Director identifies.

Knowledge and understanding of the white paper on the transformation of the public service (Batho Pele)
Ability to work under pressure combined with a high level of boldness and the ability to stand for yourself is a must
