Job Description


Main Purpose:

Maintains our license to operate by ensuring that the products sold are handled and stored such that they meet the required mandated standards, and the facilities are designed to conform to all PUMA stringent standards, local legislation and the latest HSSE standards and that the airports are managed efficiently and safely.
Accountable for the complete management of the depot. It includes all Operations, HR, HSE issues within the depot. The ADM must manage the fuel storage facility and into-plane activity whilst maintaining the PUMA ENERGY Quality Control, HSE and Operating Standards.
Delegates responsibilities to his staff whilst maintaining full accountability. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintenance of fixed and mobile plant, staff training, HSSE initiatives, stock control and administrative duties.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

1. HSE

  • The Airport Depot Manager (ADM) is accountable for all HSSE aspects on the airport operation in accordance with the procedures in the SAPS Manual and Legislated standards.
2. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
  • Personal Leadership xe2x80x93 set high personal standards, lead by example, ensure follow through, and demonstrate commitment to building a motivated workforce.
  • Adequate resources to operate and maintain the site. Including the preparation and maintenance of shift and leave schedules, to ensure the most efficient use of airport personnel and ensure efficient apron service
  • Recruit, Train & coach staff to develop a highly skilled team, dedicated to xe2x80x98getting it right first time, every timexe2x80x99. Ensures staff are competent to carry out their roles.
  • Carrying out routine task observations on his staff.
  • Communicate and ensure compliance around PUMA expectations & standards.
  • Take active interest in all staffxe2x80x99s wellbeing to ensure they are physically and mentally fit to carry out their duties and if they are not seek ways of facilitating a recovery.
  • Manage industrial relations and disciplinary procedures in accordance with company personnel manual, conditions of employment, union agreement as appropriate.
3. QUALITY CONTROL

The ADM is the nominated Site Product Quality Inspector, responsible for the efficient operation of the Quality Assurance System at that site.

In this role, the ADM shall be responsible for:
  • The implementation of correct quality control procedures.
  • The maintenance of satisfactory documentation.
  • The quality of product received by the airport depot
  • The quality of product stored and handled within the depot
  • The quality of product transferred to the into plane companies or sold to the customers at the airport, the training of all staff at the site who are nominated as Product Quality Inspectors.
4. OPERATIONS & ASSURANCE

The Airport Depot Manager (ADM) is accountable for the complete management of the airport depot and where applicable into plane activities. It includes all Operations, HR, Maintenance (including inspection and testing) and HSE activities within the depot in accordance with Site Operating standards. This would include:
  • Effective management of all Site risks including applying tools to recognise and minimise risk
  • Thorough application of Management of Change
  • Ensuring that all staff are competent to carry out their assigned duties
  • Optimizing the efficiency of the operation
  • Implementation of recommendations from various audits.
Where the operational needs of the airport dictate (i.e. at smaller locations), the ADM is a working member of the staff and will perform the tasks that would normally be assigned to his staff.
  • Accountable for all administrative duties in the depot. This includes but not limited to Sales, stock management, overtime, petty cash, record keeping, data inputting. Routinely checking the accuracy of these tasks when performed by his staff.
  • Assisting with the compiling of Capital and Revenue Budget proposals for the Depot and implementing and controlling the Revenue budget.
  • Reporting of management information to the appropriate levels in the organisation
  • The ADM is the airport representative at the site and should be continually alert for new possible business opportunities.
  • Accountable for communicating stock requirements, taking into account any changes in demand patterns.
  • Accountable for the stock control at the airport and being able to identify trends, irregularities and implementing remedial action.
Represents the company on all local Operating and Safety Committees as scheduled by the Local Airport Authority. Responsible for promoting PUMAxe2x80x99s HSE agenda and acting in our commercial interest.

5. FIXED AND MOBILE PLANT MAINTENANCE
  • The ADM is accountable for the maintenance of all equipment in the depot. This includes ensuring there are appropriate site specific preventative maintenance schedules in place for all equipment and that these are current.
  • The ADM is accountable for ensuring that sufficient spare-parts for continuity of operation are available and properly stored, and that replenishment orders are timeously made.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:
  • Ideally a recognised 3 year post school qualification in a Technical field.
  • The ADM must have had a minimum 5 years Airport Operations experience.
  • Proven man management skills are essential.
  • Work experience in a technical field including on airport work is an added advantage.
  • Code 14 driverxe2x80x99s license or international equivalent.
  • Product quality control of aviation fuels.
  • Proven track record as being able to self manage, motivate and coach others.
Skills:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, safety standards, operating procedures and regulations.
  • Home language with excellent English communication skills,

  • Good leadership skills, communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong initiative and independence.
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficient networker both in-house and externally.
  • Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
